Woohoo! My husband and I are going to see Jason Mraz perform at the Peabody Opera House tomorrow night. Love, love, love his music! The 37 year-old singer was born in Mechanicsville, Virginia, but made his music début on the San Diego Coffee house scene in 1999-2000. His first studio album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come, which contained the hit single, The Remedy (I Won't Worry) was released in 2002.
Mraz achieved commercial success with his second album, Mr. A-Z, which peaked at number five on Billboard 200, selling over 100,000 copies in the US. His third album, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and became an international success. Who hasn't heard, "I'm Yours"?? The song hit number six on the Billboard Hot 100. His fourth album, Love is a Four Letter Word, peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, his highest-charting album to date. In 2010, "I'm Yours", won the ASCAP Song of the Year!
Mraz has won two Grammy Awards and received two additional nominations. He's also won two Teen Choice Awards, a People's Choice Award, and the Hal David Songwriters Hall of Fame Award. As well, he's earned Platinum and multi-platinum certifications in over twenty countries.
He sings, plays the guitar, but also plays the piano, mandolin, mandola, ukulele, and the banjo. He's known for his live acoustic style, but his genres include: smooth jazz, blue-eyed soul, pop, Coffeehouse blues, alternative rock, reggae and surf rock.
I'm going to download his fifth album, Yes, an acoustic album, which was released July 15, of this year, so I can be up on all his music prior to the concert!
He lives a health-conscious lifestyle, eating mostly raw vegan foods. A few little known facts - he owns a five-and-a-half acre avocado farm in Bonsall, California, and is an investor at Café Gratitude, a vegan restaurant in LA.

Until next time, turn up the tunes and rock out to your favorite artists!
